“Volunteering has been my favourite part of the DofE and has given me a purpose.”
Volunteering is all about making a difference to other people’s lives. Perhaps you’re interested in animals or conservation? Or you might like to work with older people or raise money for a cause that means a lot to you? From teaching children cyber safety to starting a local recycling campaign, the Volunteering section of your DofE enables you to give your time to help others and change things for the better.
City of Nottingham Scouts offers opportunities for volunteering. We have 24 Scout Groups within the City where you could volunteer as a Young Leader, helping run Beavers, Cubs or Scouts. Our young Leader scheme provides all the training required to complete this section of the D of E Award, whether you are doing your Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. We can also put you in contact with Scout Groups in other areas of Nottinghamshire.
We are also able to offer volunteering opportunities at our Sycamore Super Kitchen which operates on a Friday evening. Super kitchens are 'sociall eating spaces' where people come together at mealtimes to enjoy a great, affordable, planet-saving meal that comes with a side order of community, connection and conversation.
The kitchen runs on the surplus food distributed through Fareshare, which is prepared and served by our team of volunteers.
