Bringing people together from Nottinghams communities over a quality meal at prices affordable to everybody.
Bringing people together
We encourage our customers to sit together at large tables, so they mix, get to know each other, and make friends. Our customers range from young families, to the lonely, and the elderly, to members of organisations like City of Nottingham Scouts and Click Nottingham. Our challenge is to get get the lonely and elderly out of there homes and mixing with others over one of our meals. We encourage people from all backgrounds to visit us.
Serving good quality meals at affordable prices
Our kitchen is run totally by volunteers, who are proud of the high standards we maintain. This is demonstrated by our top food hygiene rating of 5 stars.
We only open Friday's, but our menu is different every week. We offer a minimum of 2 options for each course, one option always being suitable for vegetarians. We always have 3 courses on our menu. Our menu is published at the latest each Thursday on both our website, and facebook pages.
Our prices are very affordable, at just £3 per adult per meal, including drinks. We encourage the more fortunate to donate a little bit more, so we can donate meals to the lees fortunate when necessary. We never turn anybody away.
Minimising food waste
We are able to offer meals at such affordable prices because we source nearly all our food through Fareshare, who collect surplus food from supermarkets and the food supply industry and distribute to smaller charities like ours.
We get a delivery every other Thursday, and have no idea what will be delivered until it arrives. We then have to get creative in writing our menu's, and if necessary moving on any surplus to other charities. We regularly supply the local food bank, and have donated to Shelter Nottingham recently. We also provide food within Scouting occasionally, as a means of subsidising camps for some of our inner City Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
